Bettina Hamelin

Bettina Hamelin is an accomplished life sciences executive with over 30 years of combined experience in academia, industry and nonprofit settings. Currently President of Innovative Medicines Canada (IMC) since April 2024, she previously led Ontario Genomics, where she catalyzed genomics initiatives to support innovation in key economic sectors. Before that, she was vice-president of the Research Partnerships Directorate at NSERC, where she promoted public-private collaboration and technology transfer.
Dr. Hamelin has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, having held senior management positions at Pfizer and BioChem Pharma. She also has more than 10 years of academic experience as a full professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Laval University.
With a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kentucky and an EMBA in health care from the University of British Columbia, she is recognized for her ability to innovate in public-private partnerships and to break barriers between the public and private sectors.
