IRICoR is pleased to welcome Mr. Jean-Louis Brochu to its team as Senior Intellectual Property Manager. In this role, Mr. Brochu will be responsible for crafting intellectual property (IP) strategies adapted to the development of each portfolio project, coordinating and contributing to the drafting of patent applications in collaboration with researchers and patent agent from external firms, and guiding IRICoR’s senior management in its new investment projects, taking into account many legal, scientific and business aspects.
With more than 10 years of experience at Pharmascience, a leading Canadian generic pharmaceutical company, Jean-Louis brings extensive knowledge of industry standards with respect to IP and commercialization matters to IRICoR.
Mr. Brochu holds a M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Ottawa. Jean-Louis began his career in synthetic organic chemistry with organizations such as the National Research Council Canada (NRCC), PainCeptor Pharma and Sussex Research Laboratories in Ottawa. He is a registered chemist with the Ordre des chimistes du Québec and was also a member of the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association (CPGA) IP committee.
As Lead IP Scientist at Pharmascience, he developed a thorough expertise in IP landscape searches and opinion drafting on freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity matters. Jean-Louis was also involved in new IP generation activities for the Innovative branch Pendopharm.
