Montréal, August 17, 2018 – The Québec government is providing IRICoR a grant of 4.1 million dollars, over the next five years, to support collaborative research projects in the life sciences industry. MEDTEQ also received financial support of 4.9 million dollars. The targeted projects will be set up under the Government of Canada’s Program of Centers of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR). IRICoR and MEDTEQ were two of the recipients of the program’s last 2018 competition. This funding is part of the Stratégie québécoise des sciences de la vie 2017-2027 – L’innovation prend vie, made public by the Quebec government in May 2017.
Nadine Beauger, Chief Executive Officer of IRICoR welcomed the news with enthusiasm: “We are delighted with this renewed support from the Québec government in support of the federal funding we received. We are consolidating our leading position in drug discovery, together with our national and international partners. Every day, they allow us to transform cancer research, and related areas, into innovative therapeutic solutions for the benefit of patients in Québec and Canada. We are creating a critical mass of expertise, both public and private, and showcasing Québec’s expertise on the international scene.”
